Project Overview
Sound Control Meets Design Intent
Installation of our PanelHush PET 12mm Acoustic Hanging Panels. Not only do these hanging panels reduce the room reverberation and echo — they are a visually striking design feature that transforms the character of a space.
Using the PanelHush PET Acoustic Hanging Panels you can create room divides, walkways, meeting spaces and more. Suspended directly from the ceiling structure, the panels require no floor fixings, making them ideal for open-plan offices where flexibility is paramount.
01 / Challenge
A Large, Loud Open-Plan Office
With No Acoustic Treatment
The client had a modern open-plan office with high ceilings and hard surfaces throughout — exposed concrete soffits, polished floors, and glass partitions. While the aesthetic was striking, the acoustic environment was problematic.
Excessive reverberation made it difficult for staff to concentrate. Speech intelligibility was poor across the floor, and background noise levels were consistently high during working hours. A design-led solution was needed — one that would address the acoustics without compromising the visual identity of the space.
Excessive Echo
Hard surfaces creating long reverberation times across the open floor
Poor Concentration
Staff productivity impacted by high ambient noise levels
No Spatial Definition
Large undivided floor plate with no acoustic or visual zoning

PanelHush PET 12mm
Acoustic Hanging Panels
We specified the PanelHush PET 12mm Acoustic Hanging Panels, suspended directly from the existing ceiling structure using stainless steel wire rope fixings. The panels were arranged in parallel rows above the primary workstation areas, with deliberate spacing to create defined walkways and informal meeting zones.
The PET panels were specified in a two-tone colour palette — warm sand and deep charcoal — to complement the existing interior scheme. The result is a ceiling installation that reads as an architectural feature as much as an acoustic intervention.

03 / Results
Quieter Space. Better Work.
Striking Design Feature.
Significantly Reduced Reverberation
The PanelHush PET panels absorbed mid and high-frequency sound energy across the open floor plate, dramatically reducing reverberation time. Staff immediately noticed the difference — conversations no longer carried across the office.
Improved Concentration & Productivity
With reverberation under control, the ambient noise level dropped substantially. Staff reported improved concentration and reduced fatigue. The acoustic environment now supports focused work rather than fighting against it.
Defined Spatial Zones Without Walls
The panel layout creates clear visual and acoustic zones — dedicated desk areas, informal meeting spaces, and circulation routes — without a single additional wall. The floor plan remains fully flexible.
A Defining Design Feature
Far from being a remedial intervention, the PanelHush installation became a talking point. The two-tone ceiling plane adds depth and warmth to a previously flat interior, earning praise from both the client and visiting guests.
The Outcome
"The panels transformed our office. What we expected to be a purely functional solution ended up being the most commented-on feature of our fit-out."
