What is the MG100?
What is the MG100 Movable Acoustic Wall System?
The MG100 is a top-hung operable wall system consisting of individual panels that slide along an overhead track and seal together to create a solid acoustic barrier. Panels suspend from an overhead aluminium track, require no floor rail, and stack neatly into a dedicated parking bay when not in use.
The system provides acoustic ratings of up to Rw 59 dB depending on configuration, making it suitable for environments where sound control is critical. Acoustic performance is achieved through panel mass, multi-layer construction and automatic perimeter sealing systems — all independently tested to ISO 140-3 and rated in accordance with ISO 717-1.
The MG100 is specified across education, offices, hotels, conference facilities and public buildings where flexible space division and high acoustic performance are both required. It is designed to balance acoustic performance, usability and flexibility across a wide range of commercial and educational applications.
Quick Answers
Product Overview
Movable Acoustic Wall Systems for Flexible Spaces
The MG100 is ModernGlide's flagship operable wall system. Its top-hung design eliminates floor tracks entirely, creating a completely clean floor-level finish and allowing uninterrupted movement across the floor plate when panels are stored.
With acoustic ratings up to Rw 59 dB, the MG100 is independently tested and certified to meet the most demanding acoustic specifications in commercial, educational and hospitality environments. It is the system of choice when maximum acoustic separation and operational flexibility are both required.

How It Works
How Does a Movable Acoustic Wall Work?
A movable acoustic wall operates on a top-hung track system. Panels are individually moved along the overhead track and positioned to form a continuous acoustic barrier — or stored in a parking bay when the full opening is required.
Panels stored in parking bay
When not in use, MG100 panels stack neatly into a dedicated parking bay — leaving the full opening clear and the floor unobstructed.
Panels moved along overhead track
Each panel is individually pushed along the overhead aluminium track to its required position. The top-hung system requires no floor guidance rail.
Panels aligned and positioned
Panels are aligned to form a continuous wall. The system accommodates straight runs, T-stops, L-stops and curved configurations.
Acoustic seals activated
Top and bottom acoustic seals deploy automatically or manually under compression, closing the gap between the panel and the floor and ceiling to maximise acoustic performance.
Single-operator use: The MG100 is designed to be operated by a single person without specialist training. Panels move smoothly and quietly, and the sealing system is simple and reliable — making reconfiguration fast and practical in any commercial environment.

About these videos: The MG100 product demonstration videos above show how the movable acoustic wall system operates in practice. Each video illustrates a different configuration or stacking option, demonstrating how panels move along the overhead track, how they fold and stack into the designated parking area, and how the acoustic seals engage to create a high-performance sound barrier. These demonstrations help architects, interior designers and project managers understand the operational simplicity and flexibility of the MG100 system before specifying or installing.
Key Features
What Makes the MG100 the Right Choice?
High Acoustic Performance
Certified Rw ratings from 48 dB up to 59 dB. Suitable for the most demanding acoustic environments including boardrooms, lecture theatres and conference halls. All ratings independently tested to ISO 140-3.
Top-Hung Operation
All panels are suspended from a robust overhead track. No floor rail is required, ensuring a completely clean floor finish and unrestricted movement across the floor plate when panels are stored.
Full Floor-to-Ceiling Coverage
Panels extend from floor to ceiling with acoustic sealing at head and foot. Top and bottom seals can be operated manually or automatically, activating under compression to minimise acoustic flanking paths.
Wide Range of Finishes
Specify from fabric, vinyl, laminate, veneer or painted finishes. Panels can be matched to any interior scheme. Custom finishes and client-supplied materials are accepted.
Flexible Track Configurations
Available in straight, curved, T-stop and L-stop configurations. Multi-directional track systems allow panels to be stored in dedicated parking bays. Complex layouts accommodated.
FIS Accredited Installation
All MG100 systems are installed by ModernGlide's FIS-accredited installation team. Full project management from survey through to commissioning and handover is included.
System Comparison
Movable Acoustic Walls vs Folding Partitions: What is the Difference?
Understanding the difference between movable acoustic walls and folding partitions helps specifiers select the right system for each project. The two systems serve different purposes and perform differently.
This System
MG100 Movable Acoustic Wall
- Independent panels — each moved individually
- Top-hung — no floor track required
- Automatic acoustic seals at head and foot
- Rw up to 59 dB — high acoustic performance
- Panels park in dedicated stacking bay
- Suitable for wide openings — unlimited span
- Ideal for conference halls, schools, hotels
- Higher specification, higher cost
Alternative
Sliding Folding Partition
- Hinged panels fold and stack to one side
- Floor-supported or top-hung options
- Brush or rubber seals — lower acoustic rating
- Rw typically 30–49 dB
- Panels stack at edge of opening
- Better suited to narrower openings
- Ideal for offices, meeting rooms, studios
- Lower cost — faster installation
