Creating Flexible
Office Space
How the MG500 Flush Glazed Sliding Folding Partition transforms static offices into adaptable, light-filled workspaces — without compromising acoustic performance.
Project Overview
"A modern office fit-out that puts flexibility first — without sacrificing privacy or quiet."
ModernGlide have recently completed installation of our MG500 Flush Glazed Sliding Folding Partitions as part of this modern office fit-out. The MG500 system features hinged sliding folding glazed wall partitions that enhance workspace flexibility and employee wellbeing in equal measure.
The brief called for a workspace that could transition seamlessly between an open, collaborative floor plan and a series of acoustically separated meeting rooms — all within the same footprint. The MG500's bi-fold glazed panels deliver exactly that: full transparency when open, and up to Rw 42 dB acoustic separation when closed.
Critically, the flush-glazed aesthetic preserves sightlines and natural light throughout the office — a key priority for the client. When the partitions are stacked open, the space feels entirely unobstructed. When closed, occupants benefit from genuine acoustic privacy without losing the sense of openness that glass provides.
Why MG500
Four Reasons This Installation Works
Workspace Flexibility
The bi-fold panels stack neatly to one side, creating a fully open floor plan for large team sessions or all-hands events. Reconfigure in minutes — no tools, no contractors.
Acoustic Separation
When closed, the MG500 delivers up to Rw 42 dB sound reduction — sufficient for confidential meetings and focused work. Acoustic seals engage automatically as panels close.
Natural Light Preservation
Full-height flush glazing maintains daylight penetration across the entire floorplate. No solid walls blocking light — employees benefit from natural light wherever they sit.
Employee Comfort
The combination of visual connection and acoustic privacy supports neurodiversity and wellbeing. Employees can choose their environment — open collaboration or quiet focus.
System Mechanics
How the MG500 Bi-Fold System Operates
Panels Hinge & Fold
Adjacent glazed panels are connected by precision piano hinges. When operated, panels fold against each other in pairs, guided smoothly along the overhead aluminium track. The top-hung system means zero floor obstruction — no bottom track to trip over or collect dust.
Stack Neatly to One Side
The folded panel pairs slide along the header track and stack compactly at the end of the opening. The entire wall system can be parked in as little as 15–20% of the opening width, leaving the remaining space completely clear and unobstructed.
Acoustic Seals Engage on Closure
As the final panel closes, perimeter seals compress against the head, floor, and jamb to create an acoustic barrier. The MG500 achieves up to Rw 42 dB — tested and certified to international standards. No manual adjustment required.
